It was 1969 and our dad, Rocky, was a young man who had recently come to Texas from India. And like all great immigrant stories, he met our mom, Irma, who came to America from Mexico.

One evening, our dad went out with our mom and their friends for his first time at a Mexican restaurant. As usual, the waiter put the salsa down on the table. Our dad proceeded to pull the bowl toward himself, picked up his spoon and took a bite, smiled and proceeded to devour the entire bowl.

Our mom and their friends began to laugh and said "You know that was for all of us, right?" He looked up at them and said, "It was?" and my mom looked at him and said, " Yeah, it was the salsa for the chips for us to share." Our dad paused, looked at her and replied, "Oh, I thought it was my soup. It’s really good!"

.... and thus began his true love for salsa and our mom.

After 30 years of experimenting with homemade salsas our dad perfected his recipe. People kept telling him that it had an amazing taste and awesome kick... and Kicante was born.

 For years this treasured, spicy-licious concoction was available only to friends and family. And now, YOU are a member of the Kicante Family! 

When we say love is our first ingredient - we mean it. When you open a jar of Kicante it means family and friends sharing food, stories, and laughter.
